Chinese woman falls from Binondo condo

MANILA, Philippines - A female Chinese national reportedly fell from the 11th floor of a condominium building in Binondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

The body of Zeng Xuan Xuan, between 40 and 45 years old, was found by passersby on the pavement below the Jell Tower building at the corner of T. Alonzo and Ongpin streets at around 3:40 a.m., according to Senior Police Officer 1 Giovanni Valera.

The victim was a tenant who occupied a unit at the 11th floor of the building, guard Reynaldy de Joya told police.

Valera said a certain Ty Tong Kee, accompanied by the building administrator, introduced himself as a relative of the victim. However, Kee refused to cooperate in the investigation, Valera said.

There are unconfirmed reports that the victim was a compulsive gambler, Valera said. He said results of the autopsy will determine if the victim suffered injuries other than those caused by her fall.
