3 men rob Internet café in Caloocan

- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - Three still unidentified robbers barged into an Internet cafe in Bagong Silang, Caloocan City and robbed the shop owner and customers Monday night.

Kyla Barba said the robbers entered her shop at around 9 p.m. and turned off the lights before robbing her of P1,500 and her customers. One customer, a 12-year-old girl, pleaded with the robbers not to take her cell phone but was ignored.

The heist was over in 15 minutes and the robbers quickly fled in the dark.

A roving team of village watchmen led by Mario Zulueta noticed the commotion but failed to arrive on time and catch the robbers.

Barba said many robberies in the area go unnoticed by authorities. She said the lack of police officers in the area during the night and the wee hours of the morning has emboldened criminals.

Sources said soon after the tanods left, a house next to the Internet cafe was also robbed.
