Alleged carjacker turns to robbery, gets caught
MANILA, Philippines - An alleged member of the Onad carjack group and two suspected accomplices were arrested by the Muntinlupa City police in Biñan, Laguna Sunday morning, hours after the three men reportedly staged a robbery at a machine shop.
Chief Inspector Giovanni Martinez said Romeo “Tero” Reybuneria and companions Cedric “Cedie” Mutuc and Mark “Negro” Mutuc purportedly staged a heist in front of the Amber Machine Shop in Barangay Putatan at around 2 a.m. Sunday.
“We received information that they have a safehouse in Biñan and that’s where we arrested them,” Martinez said.
According to Martinez, Reybuneria turned to robbery and home invasion due to a series of police operations against carjackers. He finished serving his sentence at the New Bilibid Prisons in 2009.
