Cop, companion shot in Makati

MANILA, Philippines -  A Camp Crame-based policeman and his female companion were shot by three unidentified attackers in Barangay Pembo, Makati City before dawn yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Mark Telly Delasa, 30, and Joan Villorente, 28, suffered gunshot wounds in the legs and body. Delasa is detailed with the Police Security and Protection Group.

According to SPO1 Monette Whiteside, the victims were walking toward Delasa’s house at about 3 a.m. when the attackers shot at them.

Whiteside said the area where the victims were attacked is notorious for shootings, earning it the nickname “firing range,” because “many soldiers live there.”

Police said Delasa was not in uniform at the time of the shooting.
