MANILA, Philippines - A 25-year-old utility worker reportedly decided to end his life after he found out that he had an eye ailment that may eventually lead to blindness.
The body of Arnold Cava, a stay-in laborer, was discovered by his co-workers hanging by the water tank at the basement of Manila Residences in Ermita yesterday morning.
Senior Police Officer 4 Gerardo Rivera said Cava used a tire wire looped around his neck with the other end tied to the water tank.
Cava left three suicide notes wherein he asked forgiveness from his co-workers and relatives he might have wronged.
He said he found out that he had been adopted. He also said his vision was blurred.
“I don’t want to be a burden to my family in case I become blind. I’d rather end my life,” he wrote in his suicide note.
Cava’s co-workers described him as efficient and a workaholic, according to Rivera.
