Aguilar lauds Las Piñas' top cop
MANILA, Philippines - Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel Aguilar lauded city police chief Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula Saturday for winning the Philippine National Police (PNP) Mentor Award for his innovative approach to maintain peace and order in the city.
Sapitula won the award for two consecutive years in recognition for his outstanding leadership, besting 36 other police officers in the National Capital Region.
The award was given during the recent 105th PNP anniversary following the flag-raising ceremony at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, with Chief Superintendent Miguel Laurel, deputy regional director for administration, handing over the award.
The NCRPO’s criteria for the award are mentoring, community mobilization, initiative and leadership in determining the winners. The board of jurors are composed of representatives from media, the academe, non-government organizations, business and the religious sector.
“The award exemplifies Sapitula’s keen leadership that motivates his colleagues and subordinates to perform their duties for the benefit of the people.” Aguilar said,
He said winning the award will reinforce Las Piñas’ vision and mission to be one of the most peaceful cities in the country.
