MRT train stalls in Makati
MANILA, Philippines - A train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) stopped in the middle of the tracks in Makati yesterday, and it took another train to push it to the depot in Quezon City.
Lawyer Hernando Cabrera, spokesperson for the rail line, said the malfunctioning of the train was caused by “fluctuating power supply.”
Cabrera said the train was coming from the final station along Taft Avenue and was moving northbound when staff noticed something wrong with its energy source at past 7 a.m.
According to Cabrera, rail line staff decided not to load the train with passengers and just bring it directly to the depot along North Avenue. But along the way, in between the Magallanes and Ayala stations, the train eventually stopped running.
When the train stopped, another train was behind it. The other train was the one used to push the malfunctioning train until it reached Quezon City. Cabrera claimed yesterday’s glitch did not affect the entire operations of the MRT Line 3.
