2 hurt in 5-vehicle smashup along Roxas Blvd

MANILA, Philippines - A couple was hurt when their Mitsubishi Adventure figured in a five-vehicle collision along the southbound portion of Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City yesterday afternoon.

Police Officer 3 Ricky Murillo said Vicente Santiago Pascual and his wife were approaching the Roxas Boulevard flyover going to Baclaran at about 2:26 p.m. when a Saulog Transit Inc. bus (UVL-863) rear-ended their vehicle.

The Pascuals’ Adventure (ZKP-633) hit a silver Mistubishi Montero (PZO-313) in front of it, which also hit a Honda Civic (ZHE-860). A Davis taxi (TXM-293) approaching the flyover hit the bus.

Based on the bus driver Esmael Joseph Clemente’s account, he hit the Pascuals because the Adventure suddenly stopped.

Drivers of the other vehicles told investigators they slowed down because they were trying to avoid a bumpy portion of the road.

Murillo said Clemente may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property and physical injury.
