MANILA, Philippines - The suspect in the robbery and sexual molestation of at least 20 female dentists in Metro Manila and nearby provinces could have used a fake gun to intimidate his victims, police investigators said.
At least three victims interviewed by police said they noticed something wrong with the handgun of the suspect, a police official said.
“When the suspect cocked his handgun... There is no sound of a moving bullet,” the official said.
The suspect is targeting female dentists because they are not familiar with handguns, he added.
“A lady dentist would cringe at the sight of a firearm because they have no personal knowledge about it,” he told The Star. “Out of fear, she would follow all orders of the suspect.”
He added that the suspect could be thinking that he could only be charged with grave threat, which is a bailable offense, if he is caught carrying a fake gun.
