NCRPO to dentists: Set up alarm system with local cops
MANILA, Philippines - Dentists should coordinate closely with the local police to set up a system by which they can immediately report the presence of the man who has been raping and robbing women dentists in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said yesterday.
NCRPO chief Director Alan Purisima warned dentists that the “pervert” responsible for 20 sexual attacks reported so far has three missing teeth and asks for an upper molar to be filled.
Purisima admitted the police could not hold for questioning any man missing three teeth and asking to have his molar filled, “but it would be a different story if he’s carrying a handgun.” He said the attacker was reported to carry a sling bag that contains a handgun and plastic string he uses to hogtie his victims.
He urged dentists to set up a system to alert the police station nearest their clinic if a man fitting the attacker’s description walks in.
Purisima said the attacker belongs to a group whose members robbed dental clinics in the past. “The person we are looking for is the one who gang members referred to as a sex pervert. He is now in hiding, apparently feeling the heat of our massive manhunt,” he said.
NCRPO investigators noted that the victims wrote in the attacker’s dental record the number 16, and missing teeth numbered 4,6, and 7.
Dentist Jenette Trivilegio said number 16 refers to the upper right first molar. She said the number 4 tooth is a first pre-molar while numbers 6 and 7 are both big molars, but she cannot ascertain which quadrant the missing teeth are located because the police report does not mention it.
Police said the attacker would ask the dentists to fill a cavity in his upper right first molar. While the dentist and her assistant are busy preparing dental equipment, the attacker would pull out a handgun from his sling bag and announce the heist.
The “pervert” would hogtie the two women with plastic string or packaging tape before raping or molesting them, according to police. The attacker would then grab the victims’ money and electronic gadgets before leaving the clinic.
