MANILA, Philippines - A manhunt was launched for a call boy, who is a former informant of a military intelligence unit, who allegedly shot dead a manager of a gay bar in Pasay City at past midnight Friday.
Chief Inspector Raymund Liguden, Pasay police chief investigator, said suspect John Ruperton Lapuz, also known as Lance Cuerbo, could not be found in his listed address in Pateros town.
A police report said that based on the account of bouncer Bernando Presidente, Lapuz insisted on entering Solution Disco Club along Libertad street, where he previously worked before getting suspended for absenteeism.
“Suspect alleged he had customer upstairs and he needs to be there only for a minute,” the report read.
Presidente called manager Apollo Fernandez, who argued with Lapuz “until the latter drew his pistol and shot the victim several times.” Police Officer 3 Simon Respicio said they are eyeing love triangle as a motive because Fernandez’s current girlfriend is a former lover of Lapuz.
