Slain Muntinlupa cop to get award
MANILA, Philippines - A posthumous award will be conferred on a Muntinlupa City policeman who was shot dead while responding to a shooting incident last Monday.
Southern Police District spokesperson Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said Police Officer 1 Alvin Ammak will be given the Philippine National Police (PNP) Medal of Merit “for his courageous act of gallantry.”
Ammak’s family was given P119,000 yesterday when SPD director Chief Superintendent Jose Arne de los Santos and PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo visited his wake.
Investigators said Ammak was on foot patrol when he noticed that Lancilop Padulle was being beaten and shot by two men on the Montillano Bridge in Alabang.
Ammak “immediately responded to verify the incident, and although outnumbered, he single-handedly engaged the suspects in a gunfight,” the Muntinlupa police said.
Ammak, a native of Zamboanga, died a week after Makati City anti-drug enforcer PO2 Victoriano Cruz was killed while rendering assistance to two quarreling men. Like Ammak, Cruz responded to the crime scene alone.
