LTO guard shot dead in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines - A security guard of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) was shot dead by armed men riding a motorcycle in Pasig City Monday night.

Joseph de la Cruz, 41, of Sitio Palanas, C. Vastra, Quezon City, died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the chest and stomach.

Witnesses said De la Cruz, who was also riding a motorcycle, was shot along C5 Road near a gasoline station in Barangay Bagong Ilog at about 9:20 p.m. Monday.

Police said successive shots attracted the attention of witnesses, who failed to jot down the plate number of the attackers’ motorcycle. They said the killers were wearing black jackets and helmets.

De la Cruz was found underneath his own motorcycle, which fell on him after the shooting.
