MANILA, Philippines - Palau President Johnson Toribiong met with the relatives of slain overseas Filipino worker Virginia Ventura, whose remains were flown in on board Continental Airlines Friday night.
Ventura, a native of Pangasinan, died last June 29 at the Belau National Hospital in the Palauan capital of Koror a day after she was hacked with a machete by an unidentified attacker while she was walking alone to a department store.
The Philippine embassy coordinated with Palau authorities on the investigation of the attack on Ventura.
Toribiong assured Ventura’s family of assistance while Ventura’s children – Jerald, 22; Jeffrey, 19; Margie, 12; and Gieem, 12 – were given financial aid from Toribiong’s senator-brother, who was Ventura’s employer.
