Jobless man steals DVD player, microphone

- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines - A jobless man was reportedly caught stealing a digital video disc (DVD) player and a microphone from a telephone firm employee’s house in Barangay San Jose, Navotas City before dawn yesterday.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen identified the suspect as Rossano Valle, a resident of Barangay Daanghari.

Roland Christian Borja, 26, told police he was fast asleep in his room when he was awakened by his dogs barking at around 2 a.m. He tried to ignore them but his pets continued to bark.

Borja went out of his room to check and was startled when he saw a burglar at their terrace on the second floor. Borja alerted members of his household and they arrested Valle. Police Officer 1 Allan Bangayan said Valle yielded Borja’s DVD player and a microphone with a total value of P3,000. Borja said the suspect climbed their fence and broke into the house but the dogs detected his presence. Barangay watchmen Anthony Cupcupin and Miguelito Roman turned the suspect over to the police.
