MANILA, Philippines - Two men suspected of snatching the cell phones of two students in separate incidents were arrested in Manila yesterday.
Chief Inspector Fernando Opelanio, who heads the District Police Intelligence Operations Unit of the Manila Police District, said DPIOU operatives arrested Ismael Mamarita, 20; and Ricardo Sunasing Jr., 30, along Morayta street in Sampaloc and V. Mapa street in Sta. Mesa.
Opelanio advised students to refrain from using their cellular phones in public.
The DPIOU had already arrested four robbers near the University Belt since classes started. Cathy dela Cruz, 33, May Bibay, 25, Regon Bayabos, 24, and a 15-year-old boy were reportedly caught robbing students at knifepoint.
