MANILA, Philippines - Two brothers were arrested for allegedly stabbing and beating up a guest at a party in Malabon City Saturday night.
Benedicto Bandong, 63, a resident of Barangay Ibaba; and his younger brother Jose Bandong, 60, of Barangay Longos, both in Malabon City, will be charged with frustrated homicide for the attack on 22-year-old Jerry Ortiz, according to Police Officer 3 Jerry dela Torre.
According to a police report, Benedicto and Ortiz were among the guests at the birthday party of Jose’s son at their house in Barangay Longos when a commotion broke out at around 9:30 p.m.
Ortiz, who was drunk, reportedly approached the suspects as they entertained the other visitors. He told them he wanted to pawn his cell phone to buy more drinks because there was no more to be had at the party, Dela Torre said.
Benedicto felt insulted and reportedly stabbed Ortiz in the stomach. Jose and Benedicto then took turns kicking Ortiz, until other guests stopped them.
Ortiz was brought to a hospital while police officers arrested the brothers and seized the knife used in the attack.
