MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima yesterday lauded the appointment of lawyer Siegfred Mison as associate commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
“We need good support assistance to the leadership of Commissioner Ricardo David in the bureau. And Commissioner Mison will be good for that,” she said.
De Lima said she believes Mison, son of retired Armed Forces lieutenant general Salvador Mison – not of former National Bureau of Investigation director Mariano Mison as reported earlier – is a “young and idealistic guy” who will help bring necessary reforms to the BI.
She said Mison is her personal choice and that she convinced him to accept the post. The BI is an attached agency of the Department of Justice.
