- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines -  Police arrested a member of a robbery gang preying on Navotas fish traders during an operation Tuesday at the city’s fish port complex.

Senior Superintendent Ronaldo Escobar Olay, National Capital Region-Maritime Police Office chief in Navotas City, said Florencio Samson, 33, yielded handgun and a knife.

Samson was arrested by a team led by Police Officer 3 Marciano Bogar and Police Officer 2 Nemesio Garo who were dispatched in Market 3 inside the Navotas City fish port complex after receiving reports that three suspicious-looking men were roaming the vicinity. Two other suspects evaded arrest and are now being sought by Maritime police.

Bogar said charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and of a knife were filed against Samson before the Navotas City prosecutor’s office.
