MANILA, Philippines - Anti-narcotics agents recently arrested an independent film actor for allegedly selling illegal drugs to government agents.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) caught Marc Wilson Layug, also known as Marc de la Paz, and two others in a buy-bust operation on Sunday.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez, Jr. identified the two other suspects as Juan Salcedo, Jr., a marketing officer of a telecommunications company; and Arthuro Oledan, Jr.
The suspects were arrested by elements of PDEA Regional Office 4A at Unit 3F, Carlton Tower, California Garden, Libertad street in Mandaluyong City.
Gutierrez said agents caught De la Paz red-handed while allegedly selling 20 pieces of “capsulized meth” or shabu placed inside medicine capsules. He said Salcedo even tried to swallow some of the capsules.
A total of 122 pieces of capsules containing 52.44 grams of shabu were confiscated from the suspects.
The agency said cases for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against the suspects for sale, possession and use of dangerous drugs.
