'Hospital robber' found dead

Manila, Philippines - The body of a man clad in a hospital worker’s uniform was found stuffed in a garbage bag in Sampaloc, Manila before dawn yesterday.

A message written on a piece of cardboard identified the victim as a robber and asked his purported victims for forgiveness.

A Tech Pacific College identification card of Rodelito Bibe, an information technology student with number 05-1397, was also placed on the victim’s chest. 

The victim, described as between 30 and 35 years old, at least five feet tall, sporting long hair and beard and wearing white medical uniform. The body, wrapped in packing tape, bore a gaping wound in the neck.

A barangay tanod found the sack in front of a gift shop at th e corner of Laong-Laan and Asturias streets in Sampaloc at around 4 a.m.

Police said judging from the attire of the victim and the written words on the cardboard, he could be a robber victimizing hospital patients.

Yesterday’s find brings to 10 the number of slain robbery suspects in Manila since May.

Manila Police District homicide section chief Inspector Armando Macaraeg said these suspects were either slain in shootouts with policemen or their bodies were found bearing signs of having been summarily executed.
