Manila, Philippines - Two cars were taken at gunpoint from their owners in Makati City and Taguig yesterday, and another vehicle was stolen while it was parked in front of its owner’s house in Makati.
At around 2 a.m., Joselito Mendoza was maneuvering to park his 2011 model white Toyota Vios in front of his house in Barangay San Isidro, Makati when carjackers took it from him.
Police said Mendoza’s car has not yet been issued a license plate by the Land Transportation Office and only bears a conduction sticker (TI 1596).
Two hours later, businessman Giovanni Tombado was in his silver Toyota Fortuner along MRT Avenue in Central Signal Village, Taguig when he heard something hit his vehicle.
When he alighted, four men armed with pistols warned him against resisting. They took the car and fled towards C-5 Road.
Bystanders who witnessed the incident attempted to block the vehicle but the men pointed their guns at them.
At around 9 a.m., a 2000 model yellow Honda Civic (WRF-960) was stolen in Barangay Olympia, Makati. Its owner, Geanina Escando, told police he parked the car in front of his house the night before and was surprised to it was gone.
