Police not discounting foul play in death of Korean woman, Pinoy
Manila, Philippines - Police are not discounting foul play in the deaths of a Korean and her Filipino lover, whose bodies were found inside a hotel room in Malate, Manila Tuesday afternoon.
Though the initial police theory is suicide for the couple’s deaths, PO3 Alonzo Layugan said the number of gunshot wounds sustained by the victims is “seriously being looked into.”
Kim Min-jung, 23, sustained three gunshot wounds and Emmanuel Andrew Monteagudo, 25, who suffered bullet wounds in the right side of the body and below his right ear.
“This is no ordinary case of suicide since both victims had multiple gunshot wounds,” Layugan told The STAR.
A .25 caliber pistol recovered inside the hotel room is registered to Monteagudo, he said.
The couple’s bodies were discovered by the staff of Eurotel Hotel along Pedro Gil street in Ermita at Room 320 past 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The couple checked in at the said hotel Monday afternoon.
Hotel employees told police they called on the couple to inform them of their check out but received no reply, prompting them to force open the locked door of the room.
