Worker, 5 others rob junk shop of 2 tons of copper wire

MANILA, Philippines - Police are tracking down a junk shop worker and five other suspects who helped him rob his employer of a cargo truck loaded with two tons of copper wires Monday in Valenzuela City.

Senior Police Officer 1 Percy Villanueva said yesterday that Junel Canabe, a helper at WQB junk shop in Barangay Canumay West, with Liprado Taguyo and four other unidentified armed men reportedly took an Isuzu truck (RDS-258) with its cargo of copper wire worth P700,000 at about 6:50 a.m.

Villanueva said Canabe reported early for work but as the junk shop caretaker Huang Chi, 67, opened the gate for him five other men barged in. Canabe and his cohorts bound and gagged Huang, then dragged him into the shop’s restroom before fleeing with the truck.
