Pasay cops kill 2 bus rob suspects

Manila, Philippines - Pasay City police officers killed two alleged robbers in a shootout near the intersection of EDSA and Taft Avenue at past midnight yesterday.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Napoleon Cuaton told The STAR that policemen led by Chief Inspector Raymund Liguden intercepted a Mayami bus where four armed men were robbing the passengers at around 1 a.m. The lawmen told the suspects to surrender, but they shot at the police officers.

Two of the suspects were killed in the ensuing shootout and another suspect was arrested. A fourth man was able to escape. The slain suspects were later identified as Hernan Martinez and Roberto Salazar.

Police officers recovered three .38 caliber revolvers and bullets from the suspects.
