Manila, Philippines - The commander of Parañaque City police’s Precinct 1 was relieved Thursday for allegedly committing lapses during their clearing operations in Baclaran that led to the death of one of their policemen.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Nestor Pastoral said Chief Inspector Abraham Gabuna will be replaced by Inspector Teodoro Papa. Pastoral said Gabuna should have ensured that Police Office 3 Maplindo Prades was not left all by himself during and after the operations.
“There should be a buddy-buddy system because it’s dangerous but he (Prades) was alone,” he said.
Prades was killed, allegedly by an ambulant vendor, while on his way home from Redemptorist Road. He died of a gunshot wound in the back of his head while undergoing treatment in San Juan de Dios Hospital.
