Carjackers strike as woman stops to cool car's radiator

- Reinir Padua -

Manila, Philippines - A woman lost her Honda Civic to armed carjackers while she was pouring water in its radiator in Quezon City Thursday night.

Police Officer 3 Honey Besas said sales coordinator Madonna de Guzman, 32, told police that at around 5:30 p.m., she parked her silver Civic (UCL-566), a 1995 model, at the corner of Scout Gandia and Scout Torillo streets in Barangay Sacred Heart so she could cool down her car’s radiator.

She said two men riding a motorcycle suddenly approached her. The back rider alighted from the motorcycle and, at gunpoint, took De Guzman’s car keys from her and drove off with her Civic.

De Guzman said she lost P6,000, her cell phone, various identification and credit cards that were in her sedan.

De Guzman’s car is the second Civic stolen in Quezon City this week, police said. The first was stolen while it was parked at a mall last Tuesday.
