New QCPD chief assumes post
MANILA, Philippines - The new director of the Quezon City Police District, Chief Superintendent George Regis, assumed his post yesterday, a month after his name was floated as the next QCPD chief.
Regis said it took a while for him to assume the top post at the city police because there were “appeals” made even if he had already been chosen.
In an interview after the turnover ceremony at Camp Karingal yesterday, Regis – a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1980 – noted that there were five names submitted as nominees for QCPD director.
After erstwhile district director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele was assigned to a post in Mindanao, deputy director for administration Senior Superintendent Arrazad Subong took over as officer-in-charge of the QCPD on April 8.
Regis came back to the QCPD, where he held several posts from 1990 to 2000. He had been chief of different offices in the QCPD, including police stations in Fairview, Batasan Hills and Novaliches.
Right after the ceremony, Regis presided over a command conference with the station commanders of the QCPD.
