2 dead, 1 hurt in Tondo violence
MANILA, Philippines - Two persons, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and another was hospitalized following separate shooting and stabbing incidents in Tondo, Manila last night.
Police said there eight persons were enjoying a drinking spree in an alley at the Parola Compound when successive gunshots were heard.
Ronald Fernandez, 29, reportedly managed to run a few meters before he died of a gunshot wound in the body. Joven Asis, 26, was rushed by residents to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, where he is under observation for stab wounds in the body.
Police said no one in the area could furnish information on how the shooting and stabbing occurred.
“Hopefully, the stabbing victim could regain consciousness so we can question him on the incident,” said Inspector Armando Macaraeg, chief of the homicide section of the Manila Police District.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Reynaldo Dacallos died at the same hospital due to a gunshot wound near the armpit in another shooting also at the Parola Compound. Dacallos’ mother, Milagros, told police her son was walking home when he was shot. His killer remains unidentified.
