MMDA OKs repair of Gil Puyat flyover
Manila, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority yesterday gave the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) the green light to start repairing the 30-year-old Osmeña-Gil Puyat flyover in Makati City.
MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said the DPWH was allowed to push through with the project after its contractor, Towking Construction, had finished installing the necessary traffic signs along the designated alternate routes.
“The motorists need to be properly informed about the project beforehand so that they will not be greatly inconvenienced,” Tolentino said, admitting that the project will cause traffic congestion in the area.
The repair of the flyover will take 120 calendar days to complete, according to the MMDA, but the DPWH said it will finish the project in 90 calendar days.
