Meralco ready for Holy Week power outages

MANILA, Philippines -  The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said yesterday it is ready to provide 24-hour assistance to its customers during the Holy Week.

“All of our emergency crews will be on alert and ready to respond to any contingency during the Holy Week break,” Meralco senior vice president Alfredo Panlilio said, adding that the firm has put measures in place to respond to unexpected power outages and interruptions.

In case of emergencies, Panlilio reminded Meralco customers to call Meralco’s 24-hour call center hotline at telephone number 16211. “Our call center is ready to respond to customers’ needs at any given time. Its service is available 24/7,” he added.

Panlilio also urged the public to observe “simple safety measures” at home, especially for those who will go on vacation, such as “using only light bulbs of specified wattage for lamp or lighting fixture, avoiding ‘octopus connections,’ and keeping combustible materials away from lamps and other sources of heat.”
