MANILA, Philippines - The commander of the Cubao, Quezon City police station was sacked by National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Nicanor Bartolome yesterday for not deploying police officers to secure the Araneta bus terminal.
Bartolome ordered the administrative relief of Superintendent Virgilio Fabian after he inspected bus terminals and found that no police officer was manning the police assistance desk (PAD) at the Araneta bus terminal yesterday morning.
He designated Superintendent Ramon Pranada as the station’s officer-in-charge and ordered a formal investigation to establish the circumstances behind Fabian’s lapses.
Reports reaching the NCRPO chief also said no police officers were at PADs at the Philippine Rabbit bus terminal in Manila.
Bartolome also directed Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla, head of the Manila Police District, to identify the police officers who failed to perform their duties or suffer the same fate as Fabian.
