Man killed over gambling bet

MANILA, Philippines - A man was hacked to death by a street toughie over gambling money at a wake in Tondo, Manila before dawn yesterday.

Suspect Rodelio Saclo Jr., 25, was playing a coin game with victim Michael Manalo, 32, when they started arguing over bet payment. Saclo went home and returned with a sword. Manalo tried to run away, but a man named Rosano Maramias reportedly hit him with a bench.

Saclo attacked Manalo repeatedly, hacking off the victim’s right hand, then walked away. Police are looking into reports that Saclo has been involved in at least three hacking incidents.
