MANILA, Philippines – Four men were arrested Wednesday, a day after they allegedly hijacked a 10-wheeler truck carrying P1 million worth of canned juices in Caloocan City, police said yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Jude Santos said Allan Alcantara, 42; Alfredo Balbarino Jr., 25; Pablo Angeles, 24; and Rommel Rosete also killed truck driver Nove Canal, 27, and his helper Percy Surban, 31. Police are hunting down four other men who participated in the crime.
The suspects admitted during interrogation that they hijacked the cargo truck (TXT-762) and brought it to a warehouse in San Rafael, Bulacan. They also said they killed Canal and Surban and dumped their bodies along a highway in Baliuag, Bulacan. The two victims were found hogtied and their heads wrapped in packing tape.
The stolen truck was also recovered at a warehouse in Baliuag with its cargo of more than 800 boxes of canned juices missing.
