Man uses fake ID to withdraw former co-worker's salary

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines -  A man was arrested for using a fake identification card to withdraw his former co-worker’s salary through an over-the-counter bank transaction.

Francisco Benson, 31, was arrested by the Pasig City police when he returned to the bank Monday to procure an ATM card and continue withdrawing the salary of Albert Supan, 23. Benson admitted his crime.

Police said Benson was a former coordinator of the Quali-Centrum Human Resources in Pasig City, where Supan also works as a helper.

Supan said Benson took his company ID card on June 4, 2010, claiming he would be the one to renew it. Benson handed over to Supan his new ID card but failed to return the old one.

Using his ATM card, Supan checked the balance of his salary at a bank in Pasig City last March 4 and was surprised to find out that he has a zero balance account. Supan said he should still have P5,200 in his account.

Supan coordinated with bank officials, who said management who claimed that somebody using his ID withdrew his salary over the counter.

The bank called up Supan Monday, telling him that a man holding his ID was trying to procure an ATM card.

Police recovered from Benson’s possession Supan’s old ID card with Benson’s picture pasted on it.

Police are set to file two counts of falsification of public documents charges against Benson, who is being held at the Pasig City detention center.
