6 kilos of marijuana left in bus

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines –  Police recovered six kilos of high-grade marijuana leaves abandoned in a Victory Liner bus parked at the firm’s terminal in Cubao, Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.

Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said the leaves were in a traveling bag left in the bus.

“We suspect that it was supposed to be picked up by another person who would board the bus,” Mantele said in an interview, noting that their quick action on an informant’s tip foiled the attempt to smuggle the marijuana.

He said that because marijuana bricks were high-grade, investigators suspect the materials were supposed to be for export. He said each brick costs about P7,000 to P8,000.
