Newborn boy's body found floating in Pasig River
MANILA, Philippines - The body of a newborn baby boy was fished out of the Pasig River yesterday morning.
The baby, whose umbilical cord was still attached, was found by a scavenger in the waters under the Del Pan bridge in Tondo, Manila. The scavenger initially thought the baby was a doll.
Police are now coordinating with barangay officials to determine who among their pregnant constituents had given birth recently.
“The mother could be charged with infanticide. Either she deliberately or innocently disposed of the baby in Pasig River,” Senior Police Officer 4 Dave Tuazon said.
