Vendor kills wife's lover at Quezon City market
MANILA, Philippines - A vegetable vendor stabbed dead his wife’s rumored lover after he saw them kissing in the victim’s taxicab at the Commonwealth Market in Quezon City Tuesday night.
Jemson Justiniano wielded a 12-inch knife, which he uses to cut up vegetables, to attack cabbie Ruel Panganiban, 40, at around 11:30 p.m.
Justiniano said he had heard rumors about his wife’s alleged affair, but never bothered to check on it since he had not seen it with his own eyes. He said he has known Panganiban for four years and employed him to drive his jeepney to deliver vegetables.
Justiniano, 40, said he was on his way to his stall when he chanced upon Panganiban’s taxicab parked near the market and saw his wife, Lucilyn, and Panganiban locked in a kiss.
He approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, knocked on the window and opened the door. He said Panganiban got out of the vehicle and threatened him, so he decided to attack.
Police Officer 3 Randy Bantillo said people at the market who witnessed the attack beat Justiniano until barangay officials arrived. He said Lucilyn fled after the attack and remains missing.
