MANILA, Philippines - A GMA 7 reporter lost her Louis Vuitton bag containing cash and valuables to a motorcycle-riding robber outside her residence in Quezon City Monday night.
Aside from the luxury bag, Bernadette Reyes lost more than P20,000, her BlackBerry phone and Nokia N97 cellular phone, and bank passbook when the incident happened at past 9 p.m. along Tomas Morato Avenue in Barangay Kamuning.
Superintendent Crisostomo Mendoza, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 10, said that apart from the trauma from the robbery, Reyes was also distressed over the loss of her high-end handbag.
Mendoza said Reyes had just parked her car outside her house at past 9 p.m. when the robber approached her, “asking for directions… suddenly he pulled out a fan knife and demanded the victim’s belongings.”
He said the television reporter immediately gave up her belongings for fear that she might get hurt.
“She (Reyes) told us that the same thing had happened to her in the past and she got her hands injured when she tried to fight off the suspect,” Mendoza said.
Reyes failed to take note of the plate number of the motorcycle the robber was driving, or if it had any. The robber also wore a helmet but Reyes managed to see his face.
Reyes described the robber as between 5”7 and 5”8 in height, more than 30 years old, dark-skinned, and with a bulky frame, an oval face and chinky eyes, Mendoza said.
Reyes said she shouted for help but those in the area either did not hear her or just ignored her cries. The TV reporter then ran off towards E. Rodriguez Boulevard, where she saw policemen on patrol. They brought her to the police station to report the incident.
