MANILA, Philippines - Sun Cellular is offering free calls to relatives of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Libya and New Zealand from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays until March 8 through Sun’s “Libreng Tawag” booth at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) office.
Sun’s public service is in line with the Aquino administration’s commitment to continuously assist relatives of OFWs affected by the tension in Libya and by an earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
“Apart from free overseas calls and texts, Sun is also offering free local calls to OFWs who have returned to the country, so they could get in touch with their families,” said Bill Pamintuan, senior vice president for Digitel, Sun’s mother company.
Sun has partnered with the National Telecommunication Commission and OWWA to ensure that communication between OFWs and their families remains uninterrupted amid developing situations in Libya and New Zealand.
