Ampatuan grandson falls
MANILA, Philippines - A man reported to be a grandson of former Maguindanao governor Andal Ampatuan Sr., accused of masterminding the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre of 57 persons, was arrested in Glan, Sarangani province yesterday morning.
Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, director of Task Force Maguindanao, said Nhords Datumanong Ampatuan – who has a P300,000 bounty on his head – is the 88th accused arrested. Police seized an unlicensed .38 caliber revolver and marijuana from Nhords when he was caught at Sitio Kalipagan in Barangay Big Margus. Nhords is also known by his aliases, Nhorodin Macatimbol and Nhorodudin Calalong Amigos.
Police are still hunting 20 more members of the Ampatuan clan tagged in the massacre.
Last Monday, police nabbed Theng Piang Sali, alias Abdullah Abdulkahar, the 87th accused to be arrested for the massacre. Estipona said 107 suspects are still at large.
The Ampatuans have repeatedly denied they were behind the 2009 massacre in Ampatuan town, Maguindanao.
