MANILA, Philippines – Three men were arrested during a drug bust in Barangay Don Bosco, Parañaque City Wednesday night and yielded 8.5 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a street value of P42.5 million, police said yesterday.
Chinese nationals Long Zong, alias Sonny Long, 51, and Tong Chan, 38; and Hong Kong native Wai Leung Cheung were collared when they handed over a kilo of shabu to an undercover policeman in exchange for P500,000, according to Superintendent Remus Medina, head of the Regional Police Intelligence and Operating Unit.
Anti-drug police officers, headed by Chief Superintendent Mike Laurel, also confiscated a Toyota Camry (XNZ-453) and Toyota Fortuner (ZLU-663) the suspects used.
At least nine foreign nationals were arrested since the National Capital Region Police Office launched its Operation Meltdown to rid Metro Manila’s streets of shabu – also called “ice” in other countries – and other illegal drugs. – Non Alquitran, Aie Balagtas See
