'Bus bomb' turns outto be dirty laundry

- Perseus Echeminada -

MANILA, Philippines - A black bag left behind by a passenger on a bus bound for Baclaran sent police bomb experts rushing to Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City before noon yesterday.

Senior Inspector Elmer Constantino told The STAR that a bomb disposal team found several dirty shirts, a pair of pants and underwear in the bag.

He said the conductor of the Mersan bus (DWX-499) found the back, which was placed behind the driver’s seat by a passenger who boarded the bus in Philcoa, Quezon City. Police told all the passengers to get out before cordoning off the vehicle at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and Gil Puyat Avenue.

“Maybe the owner was too tired coming from work that he forgot his bag,” he said.

No bomb was found in the bus.
