MANILA, Philippines - The bodies of two men, believed to be victims of summary execution, were found under the bridge on Road 10 at the Manila-Navotas boundary early yesterday morning.
Police Officer 3 Resty Castillo said the victims were in their 30s or 40s, clad only in briefs. Their faces were covered with packaging tape, hands and feet hogtied, and their bodies bore evidence of torture, he said.
Castillo said witnesses saw men running away from the scene before they found the bodies at past midnight under the bridge in Barangay North Bay Boulevard South.
Sources said the manner the victims were killed bore the signature of vigilantes from Manila, describing it as “trabahong Tondo (Tondo job).” The bodies were dumped in Navotas, apparently to mislead authorities.
Castillo said the victims are not known in the neighborhood and were probably killed elsewhere.
