MANILA, Philippines - Two teenagers in hiding for the last six months for beating to death a 14-year-old boy in their neighborhood were arrested one after the other yesterday in Marikina and Caloocan. Senior Superintendent Matthew Baccay, NPD intelligence chief, said the two were arrested on the strength of a warrant issued by the Caloocan Regional Trial Court Branch 124.Three of the suspects’ cohorts, also teenaged boys, remain at large. The two suspects were collared after a follow up operation of NPD intel operatives.
Court records showed charges of murder were filed against the suspects on Sept. 13, 2010 after the suspects beat to death Mike Jefferson Torio, then 14, resident of M. Hizon street, PNR Compound, Caloocan City. The suspects allegedly used brass knuckles in beating Torio to a pulp resulting in his death. The 18-year-old suspect was collared in Upo street in Marikina City while the other was arrested in his safehouse in Caloocan.
