MANILA, Philippines – The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is checking parking receipts found inside a recovered Toyota Land Cruiser allegedly stolen from murdered car trader Venson Evangelista by a carjack gang reportedly led by Roger Dominguez.
In a radio interview yesterday, NCRPO chief Director Nicanor Bartolome said parking receipts found in the sport utility vehicle – whose license plates were changed from NAL-316 to LFG-392 – bore the plate number of a Mitsubishi Outlander.
“It appears that he (Dominguez) used the Outlander during the day and moved around Metro Manila. He then uses the Land Cruiser at night. We will try to establish who his contacts are through the parking tickets we found,” Bartolome said.
The Land Cruiser was recovered by the NCRPO at the parking area of a hotel in Kalentong, Mandaluyong City shortly after the arrest of Dominguez and his companion Jayson Miranda in Timog, Quezon City for a traffic violation. At the time of their arrest, Dominguez and Miranda were in the Outlander (ZTF-944).
The NCRPO is coordinating with security personnel of the various malls where the Outlander had parked. He added they will also get copies of footage taken by closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at mall parking areas.
Bartolome added that they are also reviewing footage taken by the CCTV cameras of the hotel to find out who may have contacted Dominguez while he was staying at the hotel. Police said Dominguez checked in at the hotel on Jan. 30.
According to Bartolome, the NCRPO now has strong evidence against Dominguez to link him to the murder of Evangelista. Police recovered a 9mm pistol, believed to be the gun used to shoot Evangelista, in Dominguez’s hotel room.
“The link is now clear. We are now just looking for the gunman,” he said.
