- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines -  On the first day of the implementation of the Anti-Overloading Law, the Department of Public Works and Highways reported that 89 out of the 547 trucks that they inspected last Tuesday were considered to be overloaded. The 89 violators represent 16.27 percent of the 547 trucks that passed by their 13 weighing stations scattered along key national roads in Metro Manila and surrounding areas. Trucks that were caught violating the 13.5 metric ton per axle load limit had their car plates confiscated. The driver’s license of the truck drivers were also taken and they were issued with a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP) giving them 24 hours to deliver their cargo.
