Fastfood employee fights for nearly empty wallet
MANILA, Philippines - A 23-year-old fast food employee nearly lost his life yesterday when he refused to give up his wallet containing P20 cash, three ATM cards and a picture of his girlfriend.
Miguel Almerol told The STAR he was on his way to work when a certain Najib Agar Magulayo, 32, and his still unidentified cohort allegedly held him at knifepoint along F.B. Harrison street in Pasay City.
“They (suspects) held me for five minutes but none of the people there dared to help me. I was just thankful that the police rescued me,” he said, referring to Police Officer 2 Ronald Corsino and PO1 Bryan Ramirez.
“They really are my heroes.”
According to Corsino, he and Ramirez were on patrol when they chanced upon the commotion. After calling the suspected robbers’ attention, the two ran and a chase ensued.
Corsino chased the unidentified robber, while Ramirez caught Magulayo in the Baclaran Mall.
Robbery charges will be filed against Magulayo, according to case investigator PO2 Giovanni Arcinue. Magulayo denied the allegations.
