Filing of charges vs gift bomb 'bearer' reset

- Aie Balagtas See -

MANILA, Philippines –  The filing of charges against a suspected courier of a gift-wrapped bomb that killed a housewife in Taguig City a month ago has been postponed until Monday.

Senior Superintendent Federico Castro, deputy for operations of the Southern Police District, said they still have to iron out “minute details” material to the filing of the complaint.

Vinzon Chua – whose wife, Yvonne, was killed when she opened a gift-wrapped parcel that contained five grenades – will stand as the main complainant. He has been dropped from the police’s list of suspects.

Vinzon’s lawyer, Randy Buenaventura, said murder and multiple frustrated murder charges will be filed against the suspect before the Department of Justice on Monday afternoon.

The suspect, a former maid of Yvonne’s family, was invited by police for questioning last Wednesday. She denied the allegations but a security guard who allegedly received the package “identified” her, Castro said.

Police said they are eyeing property conflict among family members as the strongest motive in the case. Yvonne’s mother and brother are considered suspects in the killing.
