Teen killed, 2 others injured in motorbike mishap
MANILA, Philippines - A teenager died while his five-year-old brother and a friend were hurt after the motorcycle they were riding slammed into a taxicab in Quezon City on Christmas Day.
Chris Anthony Dimaano, 17, of Barangay San Bartolome, Novaliches, died of severe injuries to the head and body while he was being treated at the Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH).
Police Officer 2 Ferdinand Paglinawan said Dimaano’s younger brother, Dominador, five; and a friend, Junray Climenter, 16, were injured in the accident, which happened at around 12:45 a.m. Saturday along Sauyo Road in Novaliches.
Paglinawan said the victims did not have helmets on while Climenter drove without a license. The teenagers were allegedly under the influence of liquor and police said they may have come from a Christmas party before the accident.
According to the police, the motorcycle allegedly veered into the opposite lane and slammed into a taxi (PXR-252) driven by Jerry Villanueva.
Climenter was thrown from the driver’s seat and hit by an approaching Toyota Vios (ZFZ-451). Chris Anthony, meanwhile, fractured his skull and injured other parts of his body when he hit the pavement.
Paglinawan said Climenter is in critical condition at the QCGH while Dominador was discharged Saturday after he was treated for bruises and gashes.
